![]() Overall, it's not that great of a game, but it's not all bad either. You can unlock a few mutators, though, that will make the game easier or harder, depending on your preference. Gameplay is ok-ish, but gets old pretty quickly. Graphics are kinda cute, but very, very low resolution, and there is a somewhat generic music playing in the background. Speaking of which, enemies are so basic that they barely manage to follow you around the corners, and most of them have like 5-6 frames of animation, and that includes being dead.ĭue to random nature of the game, you can be very unlucky sometimes, find no healing potions or just run out of ammo for your staff while not finding any other one, which makes death inevitable. The only way to replenish them is to kill stuff. There are also some artifacts that have various effects and can alter your run significantly, but they use 'mind points' - and the problem with mind points is that they do not regenerate, and when they are low, game starts spawning additional strong enemies. There are 3 types of ammo and a few types of staves, but they are mostly either very basic in their functionality, or just plainly useless. You equip one melee weapon and one magic staff. Levels consist of square blocks, and there isn't any verticality. One More Dungeon is a retro-stylized, rpg-themed wolfenstein clone with procedurally generated levels and permadeath. Sometimes I found it hard to find areas of the map I had not yet explored. I would have preferred if some artifacts and items effects were a bit clearer. There are some mutators that allow you to modify your gameplay further. Overall you'll start relying a lot on ranged combat in the later levels so it's good to have some practice with it. There's a minor delay on staves and it can sometimes be iffy to use them, but they can be used strategically. The minimap is nice and responsive, there is a decent number of weapons to choose from as well as a few trinkets to boost you up. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of entertainment I got when Steam randomly recommended One More Dungeon to me. In-Depth:Ī simplistic dungeon crawler for the price of a coffee. A fairly cheap and simple roguelite with more than enough content and replayability to justify the price. ![]()
